About Me
Hello, my name is Amy! Yep, just Amy...I was lucky enough to marry into the other half of my anagram of a name 
;) I grew up in a small town on the Texas Gulf Coast. There I enjoyed anything involving creativity, animals, sports or the outdoors. Over ten years ago, I married my longtime friend from my hometown and we began our journey together into Air Force life. We were fortunate enough to live on California’s beautiful central coast for over 8 years, and now we are excited to call the Colorado Springs area our new home. We live in Falcon with our 4 year old son, and we try to take advantage of as much live music, great food and outdoor adventure as we can.

We live in Falcon with our 4 year old son, and we try to take advantage of as much live music, great food and outdoor adventure as we can.When I was younger, I always knew I wanted to find a way to follow my passion for art, creativity and helping others, but never dreamed I would be able to make a living working in not just one, but two different fields that are so challenging, inspiring and rewarding to me. As a photographer, I specialize in equine, family, live music and documentary genres. I absolutely love being able to bring in my own unique perspective to capture life’s wide array of emotions, moments and details. Photography fulfills my intrinsic need to slow down, see the beauty in the little things and share what I see with others. I also work part time as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist at StableStrides. Working in the field of equine assisted therapy has been so incredibly rewarding. I feel fortunate to work with such an amazing team of people and horses, all coming together to help provide healing, growth and companionship to individuals so deserving of it all. I’ll be the first to admit that my life and my interests are all over the place, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
If you’re wondering what set me on what may seem like two very different paths in life, here’s a little more info....I earned my undergraduate degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where I double-majored in Studio Art and Art History and minored in New Media. While there, I played NCAA softball and focused on photography and sculpture as my areas of academic emphasis. After completing my BA, I spent a year in the fine art world, helping manage sales and curate exhibits at the gallery of a well known fine art dealer in San Antonio. However, it didn't take long for me to realize that my passions lay, not in dealing with the art of others, but in creating my own. Shortly after this realization, I enrolled in a graduate program through the Academy of Art in San Francisco where I completed my MFA in documentary photography. There, my classes and thesis work allowed me to really delve into what truly drives and inspires me outside of my photographic work. It was a soul searching journey that made me realize that there was a huge part of me still yearning to explore my love of animals and helping others. Inspired by this revelation, I became a volunteer at the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program. I had owned and ridden horses most of my life, but after experiencing the incredible power of equine assisted therapy, there was no turning back. I knew I had to become an instructor and continue down this path. I completed my therapeutic riding certification in 2011 and have been challenging myself to learn and grow as an instructor ever since. As I grow more as an individual and a photographer, I am striving to integrate my passions to build a life that I can be truly proud of...helping people find mental and physical health and growth, while creating a body of photographic work that evokes emotion, raises awareness and supports causes that are so dear to my heart.
